Now and then, we are reminded as to why these signs are still needed in galleries around the world. 

Art lovers in Miami, USA, looked on in horror when a collector accidentally knocked a $42,000 ( 39,445 euros) sculpture by US pop artist Jeff Koons to the ground. 

According to the first reports, she had tapped it with her finger, witnesses at the even said. Later reports said she kicked the podium where it was placed. Hmmm.... either way, the best rule is to stay CLEAR of anything of great value or breakable, don't you think?

PAINT YOUR PET

Did you ever want to paint your pet? Here's a great hack for transfering the outline makes that part so easy! No drawing! Here, artist @andrea.nelson.art used her tropical watercolor palette and brushes on watercolor paper.  Any color and most brushes will work. Have fun! 

Now you and your students can try painting any creature that would be quite a difficult task otherwise.

POP SURREALISM

 Yesterday I visited the exhibition of an American artist in Valladolid. His name is Mark Ryden. He is a surrealist painter. His art movement is called “lowbrow” or “pop surrealism”. He was obsessed with some characters and objects that appear on most of his pictures. For example: God, Abraham Lincoln, and also elephants, rabbits, bees and meat.

In the school we are going to make a project about bees and I would like my students draw: “Queen Bee” or “the veil of bees”

Mark tackled also a new medium:  theater. He designed the customs and accessories of the   performance “Whipped cream”.

Teaching prepositions of place through art

 Here is an activity that I did when I worked in a summer camp in 2015. You give your students sentences that contain prepositions of place. They have to draw the sentences and put the objects in the correct place. I have placed three examples below.

ART CHALLENGE

The Getty Museum in Los Angeles, California asked art lovers to post picture of themselves recreating their favorite works of art from the comfort of their own home. They were to recreate art with everyday things and the results were brilliant.
