Getting to know a place through its murals

Mary Lynn Marsell presents Lompoc, on the California central coast, with a population of about 40.000 people.

The Lompoc Mural Society has many events inspiring art on building walls, some done by students and others by well-known artists.  I especially love the Mural in a Day event that takes place each year.

Scroll down on this link to see that fabulous walls that have been painted and that I'm seeing around town!

Check out the home page and see all the wonderful art.
Be sure to go to Murals, where you can also see the Retired Mural and Commissioned Murals as well. They're fabulous!

Street Murals have become  a way not only to decorate villages and cities around the world, but also a reason to visit them and understand their culture. Murals are a great way to introduce students to them and intorduce creativity as a means of expression at school.
